| My cat bit himself in the armpit after he had been swelling. The swelling is gone, but now there's a huge open wound that I think is going to need stitches. What do I do in the meantime until I can get him to the vet? Is this an emergency? |
| the swelling was most likely an abcest. He popped it releasing the fluid. You should make an appointment right away with a vet but in the mean time I would keep him inside so he doesn't get the would infected. If neccesary the vet will put a drain in the would sou it dousn't fill back up with fluid. |

| I have a spayed female house cat who has begun to mark her territory (spray) in the house. (near windows, doors, edge of sofa, curtains, etc). She has a cat door into the garage where the litter boxes are, but has also begun spraying on the windshield of the cars. The neighbors have a male cat who sometimes prowls our property, and I am guessing this is her response to him. How can I stop this behavior? I've tried 'smelly' spray no-go treatments to no avail. Any suggestions? |

| If feline repellants are not working ther is one more option. At Whitie's PETS we have a product called feliway. It is an oil "plug it in" type device that has cat pharamones in it that help relax the cat. With this they will feel more comfprtable with their surroundings and will be less likely to feel the need to mark their territory. |

| I'm torn between getting a corn snake or a king snake for my first snake. please inform me on the better ot the two for a begginer. Thank you. Bret |
| Both types of snakes are equally easy to take care of. If there are any children that will be handleing the snake I would reccomend a corn snake because they are typically slower moving and more calm. King snake are usually very squirmy as hatchlings but definately calm down with time. |

| My kitten i addopted from the clovis animal shelter seems to have an upper respiratory problem, and I've taken him to the vet several times and with all the medicine he's been taking he still hasn't gotten better. Do you have any suggestions? |
| The only thing that I can suggest is to see another vet. Second oppinions for serious health issues are equally important for animals as they are for humans. |

| You should take the kittens to the SPCA and get you cats fixed so this problem doesn't happen again. If you can't afford to get your cats fixed I would sugest that you take them to the SPCA as well because they will be a continous problem. |
